PART-TIME Research Assistants [RA1, RA23, RA45]

There are five part-time research assistants vacancies starting July 2014 to contribute on a research project funded by NTRA. The candidates should preferably have finished their Pre-Master courses and willing to start their Master research thesis. Motivated highly active new grads are also welcome. 
All the work will be performed within the Electronics and Communications department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, as well as the National Institute of Laser Enhanced Science (NILES), Cairo University. 
 
Common qualifications for all positions: 
  • English technical writing skill. 
  • Minimum Very Good Grade is accepted (Good grade might be accepted if higher  qualifications are demonstrated) 
  • Matlab 
 
Position RA1 required qualifications: (Code: RA1) 
  • Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) design 
  • Custom digital VLSI design at schematic, layout, and tape-out levels 
  • VHDL/Verilog (is a plus) 
  • FPGA programming (is a plus) 
  • Optoelectronics design (is a plus) 
 
 Positions RA2 and RA3 required qualifications: (Code: RA23)
  • Network on Chip (NoC) design and optimization 
  • VHDL/Verilog 
  • FPGA programming (Digital flow using Synopsis, Mentor Graphics, or Cadence) 
  • Custom digital VLSI design at schematic, layout, and tape-out levels (is a plus) 

Position RA4 and RA5 required qualifications: (Code: RA45) 
  • Optical access networks design 
  • Network design and performance evaluation 
  • Optoelectronics design 
  • Optical Clock and Data Recovery (OCDR) (is a plus) 
  • Optical link hardware implementation (is a plus) 
  • Optisystem (is a plus) 
  • Optical waveguide design (is a plus) 
 
Selected RAs are expected to be engaged in researching and solving some of the problems, simulating the solutions and writing papers. The salary will be 1200-2000 Egyptian pounds/month based on 2-3 days/week work.
