Europractice
The EUROPRACTICE IC Service brings ASIC design and manufacturing capability within the technical and financial reach of any company that wishes to use ASICs.
The EUROPRACTICE IC Service, offered by IMEC and Fraunhofer, offers low-cost ASIC prototyping and ASIC small volume production ramp-up to high volume production through Multi Project Wafer - MPW - and dedicated wafer runs.
1) Access to Technology
EUROPRACTICE has signed agreements with several leading foundries and library vendors to offer low cost ASIC prototyping (MPW) and small-medium volume production. The offering includes IC & Microsystems & MEMS technologies from the following foundries:
2) Scheduled & Prices
General Europractice MPW runs schedule and prices (where the total cost depends on price/mm2) are illustrated in the following links:
3) Support
Deep sub micron design is full of pitfalls that can cause failure of your circuits: clock-skew and latency of interacting clocks, IR-drop on the power mesh, electro-migration problems, the growing importance of interconnect delays, crosstalk, on-chip variation, many metal interconnect layers...
IMEC's Design Support Service can help you achieve a first time right ASIC.
Features and Benefits
· Based on state-of-the art Synopsys Galaxy and Cadence Encounter platforms
Many circuits have been taped out, for 2 to 9 metal-layer processes, for in-house developed SoC's as well as for ASICS developed by third-party design houses, companies, research institutes and universities. Many of these systems held analog full-custom blocks, combined with other macro's (e.g. several kinds of RAM or ROM, PLL's, analog full-custom blocks …) and standard-cells. Circuit complexities of up to 71 million transistors were handled.
4) How to apply?
We distinguish two kinds of customers:
· European universities and research institutes Eurpractice members
These are universities and research institutes from European countries and that have paid an annual Europractice FULL-IC membership fee of 1100 €
Registration and payment for Europractice FULL-IC membership has to be done through our partner CCLRC in UK (responsible for CAD tools for academia).
Those customers that have paid their FULL IC membership fee get a membership ID and can get also purchase CAD tools through Europractice via CCLRC. Only those that have paid their FULL IC membership fee will be able to benefit from discounted prototyping prices.
In order for this category of customers to access foundry, just sign the appropriate NDA or DKLA and send them. A few days later you will get the necessary documents, cell libraries and design kits to start the ASIC design.
